My Immigrant Story Ep. 15: Meet Tobi Oluwole, SMB Sales Manager at Shopify

Welcome to the My Immigrant Story podcast! Every other week we bring in a new guest who is a first generation Canadian immigrant skilled professional or entrepreneur and learn about how they first discovered Canada, immigrated to the country, and set themselves up for success professionally.

Tobi Oluwole is a SMB Sales Manager at Shopify - working strategically with merchants $10MM+ in revenue to help them grow. Additionally, Tobi is the Co-Founder of 3Skills - a community of over 20,000 people where he helps them become the most employable versions of themselves. Tobi’s professional background lies in tech sales and owning his own business.

Nino and Tobi originally connected through LinkedIn - Tobi is a thought leader in the HR and employment spaces. On his LinkedIn, he regularly shares success stories of candidates that have significantly upgraded in their careers and starts conversations around aspects of the recruiting world that need to be improved. These conversations closely tie into the work he does with 3Skills - helping candidates communicate their value to secure better employment.

During the episode Tobi talks about how during the job search process, you get the interview because of your experience but you actually get the job because of your confidence. We also discuss the importance of building valuable professional relationships over LinkedIn and how to go about the networking process correctly.
