Introducing ImmiHome: Immitracker’s solution to the Canadian immigrant housing struggle

May 2024, Toronto, Ontario - Immitracker, a rapidly growing Canadian ImmiTech startup launched its first housing solution called ImmiHome leading up to the Collision 2024 conference. The purpose of the ImmiHome housing product is two-fold:

  1. Gain a better understanding of immigrant housing needs, both for those who are moving from abroad to Canada and those relocating within the country. What are they looking for in housing and what resources and budget do they have to find it?

  2. Connect immigrants to real estate and rental solution providers who can help them secure their next rental (or purchase!) across Canada

Why did Immitracker choose to tackle the immigrant housing problem?

Immitracker’s Whatsapp community was launched in mid-2023 and ever since it has been actively growing and supporting thousands of people going through various stages of their immigration journeys. The Immitracker team fully understood that immigrants face many problems while going through the immigration process - from gathering documents to waiting for applications to finish processing successfully and finally, moving to and successfully settling in their destination country.

To gain a more in-depth understanding of the pressing needs of their audience, the team conducted a survey. During this survey it became apparent that the most difficult challenges immigrants face after receiving their documents are the following:

  1. Finding a place to live / rental housing

  2. Securing their first job

Given that there are over 400K immigrants coming to Canada every year, neither of these challenges are simple to solve. However, Immitracker chose to take a stab at the housing problem and a few months later, came up with the first version of a housing solution dedicated specifically to immigrants.

What exactly is ImmiHome?

Over the past few years, there has been a lot of interest in the Canadian immigration space. New companies popping up and older ones starting to provide services specifically to the immigrant audience. One of the few issues that they can experience is that their target audience (the immigrants themselves) frequently don’t hear about these solutions and therefore aren’t receiving all of the help they could be getting.

For the first version of the product, the Immitracker team partnered with rental, rental assistance, and real estate purchasing solution providers. Each partner is a Canadian company with a track record of successfully supporting their users that either fully or partially focus on immigrants as a target audience. Now, Immitracker’s audience can easily gain access to these providers and learn more about how they can help them with their housing needs.

What’s next for ImmiHome?

The Immitracker team is hard at work looking for and adding new partners to ImmiHome regularly. Their goal is to eventually have all immigrant rental needs covered with this product.

As the company’s CEO, Nino Melikidze, stated, “we’re specifically looking for more rental and rental assistance service providers along with brokerages to partner with for ImmiHome. That is what our audience is asking for and we’d like to best meet their needs”. The more relevant service providers Immitracker can partner with for this product, the more immigrants will be able to quickly and efficiently find their next dream home.

Immitracker will be actively focused on the growth of both the ImmiHome product and community for the remainder of 2024 to continue supporting immigrants with their most pressing needs.
